Default Outlook Connector did not sync contacts from Outlook to Zimbra

I just installed Zimbra Outlook Connector 4.5.230.0. It was very simple, but I am having problem with contact sync.

here is the detail:

After I installed the connector and created the profile, I import my contact and calendar entries from my old PST file. Both calendar and contact are showing fine in Outlook 2003, but only calendar events made to my Zimbra web account. Address book is still empty. If I add an entry from Zimbra web, it will show up in my outlook, but any changes to that entry will NOT sync up to the web account, even deletion.

What did I do wrong?

You're running into a bug thats given us lots of pain but one that we've addressed for 5.0. The current work around is to not use the import functionality in outlook, but to use our PST Import Wizard to get your content into the server.

But I may still have problem editing these contacts from Outlook after I import them, right? I know I can edit them from Zimbra web and sync down to Outlook, but not the other way.

Looking forward to 5. Any idea when it will be out?

I have the same issue and using the import tool isn't an option as it doesn't copy across all of the data in the contacts.

So I now have 580 contacts in Outlook which aren't on the server which other people who have access into the folder can't access, is there a way of forcing Outlook to sync the data, waiting for 5.0 isn't an option in this case (and isn't really anyway)

Regards

What 'data' does it miss? You could always try an export of the contacts as a .csv file and import it into Zimbra.

The original data has attachments in the contacts so again .csv doesn't fit the bill, also oddly enough I'd expect the contacts to sync back to the server from the connector
