Default Odd behavior after adding iPhone

I have a user that has a laptop connected to ZCS with the Outlook connector who called me with the following symptoms. He also has recently setup an iPhone to get mail from the server via IMAP. The behavior is that new messages show up in the mailbox and the laptop gets them as new mail. He moves them in Outlook to a folder, but the messages do not get moved on the Zimbra server even after he syncs again. After he gets them on the iPhone he will then move the messages via the Web UI to this folder, and then the laptop picks up a duplicate copy of them in Outlook in this folder.

Does the iPhone connecting via IMAP somehow mark the messages which makes them unmovable by the Outlook client? I don't understand IMAP in the most gritty details to figure this one out. Any ideas or sources of knowledge so I can educate myself would be fantastic.

PS: I've already had him try to "repair" the Outlook connector because I suspected that iTunes 7.3 broke something when it set itself up to sync the calendar/contacts for the iPhone. This didn't fix it.

Much gratitude for your assistance as always,

Peter

Hmm-
Perhaps the server needs to sync? So do a send and receive first.

Also, check the logs: opt/zimbra/log/mailbox.log and /var/log/zimbra.log and look for any errors.

Also, that's weird. I have an iPhone, and can't seem to repo.

Thanks for trying. I think this user may have set some of his config oddly. Now if I could just convince my boss I need him to get me an iPhone for testing....

Default iPhone/Outlook Issues

I am having similar issues to the OP. Basically, when a new message comes in both Outlook and the iPhone display the message properly. I then move the message to another folder or delete it (which is just moving the message to the trash folder) using the iPhone. The iPhone refreshes and the change has taken affect. If you then switch back to Outlook the message exists in both the inbox and the proper destination folder. Even if you hit send/receive in Outlook the inbox folder does not refresh. Also, if you check the WebUI after the message is moved on the iPhone it shows the message as moved (correct).

Obviously, this is annoying as any message management that is done from the iPhone has to be redone from Outlook.

I am using:

ZCS NE 4.5.7
ZCO 4.5.7
Outlook 2003 SP3
8GB iPhone w/1.1.1 firmware
iPhone configured to use IMAP w/SSL

Also, I have tried this with three different iPhones and three different PC's.

Any insights are definitely appreciated.

Robert

Default iPhone/Outlook Issues

Has anyone else had these issues? I am just trying to figure out if it is a problem with my iPhone/Zimbra configuration or just an issue with the iPhone itself.

Thanks,

Robert
