Default [SOLVED] Limiting users to Blackberry-only

Hi all,

We have ZCS 6.0.5 and was wondering - is it possible to provision a Blackberry user on ZCB without allowing the specified user to provision an ActiveSync device (e.g. iPhone)? We have very strict rules about our mobile devices, and only allow company owned devices.

Therefore, is it possible to have Zimbra Mobile enabled (for BES to work), but have ActiveSync turned off - per user?

Thanks!

S.

I got a response from Zimbra Support. The "Zimbra Mobile" option doesn't have to be turned on for ZCB to work, so having that turned off automatically turns off ActiveSync for that user, but allows ZCB to carry on working.

Thanks!

S.

Is that for Zimbra 5.x or 6.x or both?

Neat. Kind of defeats the purpose of the "Mobile" checkbox, IMO. But I'll pass it along to our Blackberry guy for testing.

ZCB uses Outlook 2007 to connect to ZCS so technically there's no mobile connection directly with Zimbra. The mobile checkbox should probably indicate that it refers to activesync to eliminate that ambiguity. There's also the Zimbra mobile Web client which has nothing to do with Zimbra mobile either.

I've added a bug request to have this feature renamed in the admin interface, to remove this confusion and ambiguity.

Bug 47155 – Rename "Zimbra Mobile" option in admin screen to remove ambiguity
