Default Support for the new BES Express

Looks like RIM are retiring the "Blackberry Professional" server offering and will go with BES Express instead. BES Express is supposed to work with BB that are only BIS provisioned. In other words, the more expensive BES option need not be activated on a SIM in order to work with BES Express..

See press release here.

Would it be worthwhile raising a feature request bug to get this thing supported with ZCB ?

yeah I have a client who wants this absolutely. The software is not out yet, so we don't know I suppose if its going to work, or how.

Where did you get this would be working with BIS? I can not see this option and the name of the product already includes "Enterprise".

I think that is what most of the licensed Zimbra Mobile users are waiting for since months!

This would be great for us and its long overdue. Every other smartphone can sync calendars to exchange/zimbra without any separate software but Blackberries have always required extra cost. We only have a handful of users and this, if it works with Zimbra, would be perfect.

Please give us BES 5 compatibility - I am still forced to use BES 4.1.6!

The vote on the RFE and also get a support case added to it.

I saw BESx was released today, does anyone know if the ZCB will actually work with this in its current state?

We really need this also. It would have saved us a bunch of money this year.

Beside the errors that may occure - I would appreciate at this stage if you could let us also know how the licensing looks like:

- do we need client licenses per user?
- is there a number of clients already included?
- can previous BES client licenses recycled...

I will see if can fire up a VMware myself soon.
