How to reflect a changed email address in zimbra

I need a user to have a different primary email when using BES, so I changed the mailboxes account as follows:

david@abc.com became david@xyz.com in zimbra admin.
david@abc.com became an alias for david@xyz.com in zimbra admin.

This doesn't update in BES, and in the GAL lookup BES still see's david@abc.com as an account. I added another user as a test, and it did not show up in the GAL, so I restarted both zimbra and the BES server. Same issue. Anyway to force a resync of the GAL in BES?
