Default BES sync issue

I am having issues syncing any blackberry with zimbra using the beta 3 connector. I am able to get the phone to do an inial sync and subsequent syncs only if I properly shutdown BES and restart I get one sync and that's it.

I am running Windows 2003 sp 2
Outlook 2007 patched

Error that I get in the event log are:
CalICSSynchronizer::Initialize - OpenProperty failed: (0x80004002)

Warnings:
{adebnar@domain.com} DoICS[] failed: ERR_FAIL
CallCSAgent::Start Could not Initialize Synchronizer for adebnar@domain.com: [0x80004002]

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi adebnar,

Here is a couple of questions that can help troubleshoot the problem:

- What version of BES and BES connector are you using?
- Can i ask to describe sync problem that you have in more detail. I need more info. Based on your note "if I properly shutdown BES and restart I get one sync and that's it", is it correct to say that after BES controller is started, only 1 message is synced to device?
- Do you have dual sync problem? Can you send any messages from the device?

Thanks,

-Eugene

I'm using BES Express - Blackberry device manager is 4.2.2.7
bbdevmgr is 3.1.0.1

Problem- after restarting the BES service my blackberry will sync contacts, calendar, and email 1 time. meaning if I have 5 calendar events it will sync all 5 and any email.

I have a dual sync issue - I am unable to send messages from my bb

Also I'm running zimbra 5.0.9 scheduling to upgrade to 5.0.11 tomorrow night.

What I read is a correct restart of BES
Start the Blackberry services in the following order:

1. Blackberry Dispatcher
2. Blackberry Router
3. Blackberry Controller
4. Blackberry Alert
5. Blackberry Attachment Service
6. Blackberry Mobile Data Service
7. Blackberry Policy Service
8. Blackberry Synchronization Service

Thanks for the help.

At this point i would suggest to make sure that you have latest version of zcb connector and followed proper installation sequense as described in BES connector installation doc:

- install latest MAPI/CDO
- install BES and latest SP
- install Outlook and latest SP
- install ZCB and latest SP
- provision users

Please note that issue that you are describing is not common, simply reinstalling connector using steps above may help. In case if issue persist, we may need to collect zcb log files from you.

Thanks,

-Eugene

Hi,

one of our costumers got the same problem. Latest versions are installed. An inital synch works but then it hangs. He found out that after a restart of BB Dispatcher a single sync is possible again. Then the dispatcher hangs.

Adebnar wrote me that he got it running with Office 2003 and the latest (5.0.2676.10) BES connector. Perhaps we try this, too.

Any ideas are welcome.

Thanks

Please note that BES BETA 3 requires Outlook 2007 and not Office 2003 as specified in installation document. Our customers are encouraged to build new ZCB environment with a clean installation of Outlook 2007. In the same time, upgrading of Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2007 is not recommended as it leaves undesirable references to Outlook 2003.

Thanks,

-Eugene

Yes, I know. But with Outlook 2003 it seems to work (for our customer, too).

With the (clean) installation of Outlook 2007 it doesn't work.

Please open support case in regards to the issue (support@zimbra.com). We may need to obtain log files to troubleshoot further.
