Default New to the Blackberry world..

Currently we are using simbra mobile with motorolla q-phones. My boss now wants a blackberry storm. I hav ea few questions....

I understand that I need the "blackberry" connector installed / purchased / enabled...

    What else will I need?

Can we get the same functionality that we've become used to with the q-phone?
    thanks

You'll need a Windows Server 2003, a BES server, Outlook 2007 etc... Details in this Documentation.

So to put it simply... a Blackberry requires a ms based BES server? and the user also needs to use outlook? thanks

I think you should talk your boss out of a blackberry device. Don't get me wrong: blackberries work great, we have them in our organisation. But if you are using zimbra already, there are a lot other alternatives regarding mobile devices.

For the real blackberry thing, you need a separate ms window 2003 server with the blackberry enterprise software. there you can install the zimbra connector.

We are currently migrating from exchange to zimbra and as we do not want to throw away 12 blackberry devices (that the users are used to and like) we will try the blackberry connector. but to set up a server for one bb device seems not to be a good idea ;-)

    regards,
    Bernhard

Even better get a iPhone and if your using ZCS NE then just set up the phone within the Exchange settings and OTA is there for you
