Default Evolution Calendar

I am currently using 3.0 Milestone 2. I have been attempting to connect to my calendar using Evolution. With Zimbra, I have https enabled, and NOT http (I prefer to use secure methods by default). Will this prevent Evolution from reading the calendar?

The url I have used in Evolution is:
webcal://myserver.com/service/user/myname@myserver.com. If I use http or https, Evolution changes it to webcal. I would like to read the calendar only as I understand that two way sync is not yet available.

Come to think of it... if I only use https will this effect the use of rss?

Mike

As long as your server has HTTPS enabled it should work. You can test this by just going to that URL in a brower. If your already logged in you'll get the ics file. If not it will prompt you with basic auth.

Hmmm,
I am not having any success with Evolution calendar.

I can connect using a browser. with a URL of
https://myserver.com/service/user/my...m/calendar.ics. I download the ics file then opened it with korganizer. Worked very well.
Using the very same URL (I copied and pasted it into Evolution) I get an "cannot connect to destination" error. Evolution does replace "https" with "webcal".

Has anyone successfully connected to Zimbra with Evolutoin? Is so, what URL did you use?

Mike

Can you try with just http (non-SSL) in your browser? My guess is Evolution is using just HTTP so if you don't have HTTP enabled then it's not able to connect.

Default ical vs webcal

If I understand correctly, ical format is just a file that you can download with the latest calendar updates. Evolution supports this by downloading the file to your hard disk, and then selecting File->Import. To get auto-syncing working with Evolution, somehow Zimbra would have to work with WebDAV, which I hear developers are working on. Evolution uses the webcal format to do this, which I believe is WebDAV based.

The Evolution calendar supports webcal:// format. What I did is add an "On the Web" calendar to Evolution with a URL of webcal://my.zimbraserver.name/service/ical/cal.ics and provided my Zimbra login info. Now if I could just figure out how to add shared Zimbra calendars, I'd be set. I suppose I could figure it out pretty quick if I actually spent some time on it .

Default ical and evolution

Try this:

webcal://usernameassword@my.zimbraserver.name/service/ical/cal.ics

Works for me in latest stable Evolution.

Default Latest Zimbra borks Evolution?

I have the latest stable release (well, latest through yum) of Evolution and we just upgraded to the latest beta release of zimbra here, and all of the sudden Evolution won't sync icalendar files from the usual urls listed above. Is there a new format now or anything special that needs to be done with the new Zimbra to get it to work with Evolution? Past versions of Zimbra have worked fine with Evolution.
