Default In Filter Rules, what is significance of 'My Contacts'?

Can anyone clarify this? I ask because I am trying to advise my clients on the best way to create personal whitelists using the mail filters under options. My starting point was this article on the ZimbraWiki:

Cool User Spam Filters - ZimbraWiki

so I created a test filter to catch all 'from' 'my contacts', and noticed that it caught everyone in my personal contact and my emailed contacts. Is that the scope and limit of this filter option? What exactly is the definition of 'my contacts'?

btw, I'm new to this forum and forums in general, so if i make any mistakes in etiquette, please let me know.

Welcome to the forums.

That would be anyone in your personal contacts list and if you have the option "Enable auto adding of contacts:" enabled, they will get caught by the filter.

Just a heads-up. If you're intending to set filters to accept your contacts and discard anything else then be aware that the Discard function does just that, any email that gets discarded will not be recoverable. Make sure that the users check their filters by setting mail they don't want to be tagged or filed in a folder and manually checked before they go to any discard function.
