Default Safari 3 beta for windows

Ok, so I'm taking a look at Safari now that a windows version is available, and yet it is highly unstable but it's also fast. Zimbra is the idea thing to see this speed improvement, but I cant even log in.

If I open zimbra in safari 3 beta for windows, I get the login screen, type in user/pass and press 'login' but an error is then shown on the login screen and no further progress can be made. The error is:
Code:
An unknown application error has occurred. Please correct any errors and retry. If the problem persists, please contact your System Administrator. (service.PARSE_ERROR)
Is this just me or can anyone else replicate this?
I'm happy to believe that it's just because the safari beta is really rather beta, but it may also be something the zimbra team can work on fixing.

It's a beta and it's not supported, you knew I was going to say that didn't you?

I guess we'll get around to it when it's released, it's not listed in any bug reports in bugzilla so you could file one.

Lol, I read as far as "it's not supported" and mentally rolled my eyes and thought , ' I knew he'd say that', then read on to the rest of the sentance "you knew I was going to say that didn't you?"

Made me laugh anyway.

Anyway, I've just installed it and can now confirm that the problem you described does exist. So, as I said earlier you can file an entry in bugzilla if you want support for it.

HA & another confirm-digging through my own email-one of our helpdesk personnel found yesterday:

On the new Safari 3.0 PublicBeta
It's amazying these days how many people run/expect perfect performance on alpha or beta products. Granted, it's also one of those overused terms to prevent people from suing

Bug 17555 - Safari 3.0 Public Beta - service.PARSE_ERROR on ajax client

(tried to drop the priority-since this is about using a beta web browser-but I got: "You tried to change the Priority field from P2 to P3, but only the owner or submitter of the bug, or a sufficiently empowered user, may change that field.")

Bear in mind, there are already some serious performance and security issues with Safari. The Steve Jobs distortion field was strong with the benchmark numbers they released as well ;-)

Give it a little time for both Zimbra 5 and Safari to get some maturity.

I get a very bad feeling if people try to use our beta with safari beta
just kiddin.

It would be nice if Safari supported the standards, rather than we specifically fixing this for them. We totally plan on supporting safari. Zimlets and all

That's the plan anyway.

Mmorse's bug is a dup of 17520 which got fixed:
bug: 17520 - Zimbra doesn't work with Safari 3 beta
You can now log into v3 but there are still known issues with
Safari. See Bug 12077 - Safari: Issue login in to Zimbra Web Client using WebKit Nightly Builds

Happy unicorn thoughts.
Minty awakens now.

You just had to mention the 'distortion field'
http://www.geekculture.com/joyoftech/joyimages/972.jpg

But in all seriousness-Apple would very much like for Zimbra to beat down MS Exchange

And it's much easier to get Mozilla to make changes to Firefox -they use Zimbra for their email
Mozilla IT: Mozilla Scheduled Downtime - 3/6/2007, 7pm - 11pm PST (0300 - 0700 3/7/2007 UTC)
"mozilla.com mail upgrade. We'll be upgrading Zimbra to 4.5.3"

Makes it easy-if Mozilla finds something awry in their own install that could/needs to be solved from the browser standpoint, they can make subtle browser updates to Firefox

And as far as I'm concerned, having Mozilla use your email solution - absolutely kicks A - it's like gold plating the support!
