Default Outlook Idle Timeout

We have several clients in our organization that are using Outlook (2K, XP, 2003) as their mail client. They are getting an error several times a day about idle timeouts. From what I have gathered on the Internet it is related to how Outlook handles NOOP and IDLE messages from the server. Everything continues to work, but it is a huge nuisance for the user. Is there any fix or work around for this issue?

May try to disable IDLE by appending /ni to the username.

let's see if that helps.

Default /ni to username?

You say "appending /ni to the username". I just went to a mail client (thunderbird) and tried to change the username from wesbaker to wesbaker/ni.

It won't log in that way. The zimbra login won't take the username/ni syntax either.

Was this what you intended me to try or did I misunderstand?

Default 4.5.6

Are you running Zimbra 4.5.6? Support for /ni is new.

Default Only Outlook

I have multiple outlook and thunderbird clients.

None of the t-bird clients have the issue. Some outlook clients have it worse than others.
