Default import Thunderbird email-addresses into ZCS

Hello,

as I understand, email-addresses stored in Thunderbird can not be directly imported into ZCS.

What is the best approach to import such email-addresses into Zimbra ?

Thank's a lot for any feedback!

John

Do you mean the Thunderbird Addressbook? If you do, another user posted details of this program (it's Windows only) that you can use to do the conversion.

I dont have the link to hand (soz) but i found an online tool to do this for you, so you can do it on a mac or linux box too. I guess security is *somewhat* of an issue as it is processed server side but really, contacts are contacts. Not *that* bad. And if you worry just delete them from thunderbird before you save the export and convert with the tool..

I'm currently trying dawn. It will be good for single addresses but you'll have some work to handle distribution lists that are in your thunderbird address book.

I think an ldif export from thunderbird is the best, as ldif is the only standardized file format that supports distribution lists.

Then, you need de develop a programm that read your ldif export, and create a csv file to re-create lists.

I'll work on this as soon as i'll have some time for this.
