Default Blacklisting by the user; why not possible?

Hello,

sometimes - if the normal spam protection algorithm do not work very well -
we (as normal user) would like to be able to blacklist by user or even by domain.

If that would be an excellent spam protection approach, we are pretty sure,
Zimbra would offer that feature since a long time.

Question:
What is the reason, that this is not (yet?) possible withing the Zimbra Mail Client ?

Thank's a lot for any feedback!

John

John,

You may want to check bugzilla, I think there is an RFE for this. If so, be sure to vote for it...

Will blacklisting be effective, if we are fetching our mails from the IMAP-server of our ISP?

2.
You are using the term "blacklisting by user", that's also what we need!
But is "blacklisting by administrator" already today possible?

Thank's a lot for additional feedback!

I take it it's a hosted zimbra account somewhere; plus you said ' we (as normal user) would like to be able to blacklist by user or even by domain. The goal with that bug is to put another tab in 'options' in the web client to list your personal blacklist/whitelist. That would be applied at the MTA level to let mail through to your or block it. So yes, fetching via an imap client such as thunderbird would be after the blacklist/whitelist were already applied.

Yes, via postfix/spamassassin settings-entire domains, or individual addresses. It's simple to apply to all users, unless they write a rule kinda like: 'if mail to this youraddress@domain.com & from badaddress@otherdomain.com do ____'

Thank's a lot for the feedback! I forgot to say that in the testing phase,
our ZCS server will fetch the mails about every 10 minutes on the ISP's
IMAP server (not Zimbra).

How effektive would blacklisting by the user be in such an a (test)-
environment?

Thank's!

John
