Unhappy Sent box

I think, I prefer "To" over "From" in the Send folder.
I know, that the sent email are from me.

Thanks for the post.

We had a bug(Bug id #298) opened for this long back as a high-priority one and was also fixed in one of the builds couple of months back. Looks like it has reappeared again. I have reopened it so that our developers can take care of it.

PS: Soon Bugzilla will be open for the community.

Hi Gert,

If you are in "conversation mode", then this is the expected behaviour because conversations span folders (I will explain in a second) and because conversations may have multiple participants. In fact we had a big discussion as to whether the column should be "from" or "participants".

If however, you are in "message mode", then when you are in the sent folder it should show "to", since messages only have a single participant (the from header). You can switch modes from the dropdown in the application panel - this is just below the Zimbra logo. (Note that there is currently a bug in "message mode" that even though the column header states "to", the information presented is the sender - which is obviously broken We will fix this asap)

As I mentioned, conversations span folders and may have multiple participants. To see what I mean, double click on a conversation with more than one mesage in it. In the subsequent view you will see a folder column which indicates the folder in which each message resides - including messages that you sent as part of the conversation. You can move one or more of the messages to other folders (e.g. via drag and drop) and they will still be a part of the converstation (their value in the folder column will be updated). This is quite powerful, because it lets you organize your messages in anyway you want without losing the context of the conversation. Again keep in mind that the messages that you send are part of the conversation. You may initiate a conversation by being the first one to send a message. But when one or more of the recipients responds, the response will become part of the conversation.

Well, apperently, I was incorrect in validating the bug , but the better part is that, the bug remains fixed, infact this bug is even not relavent in conversation view

Default Re-open bug #298

I testes this quickly with the Zimbra Hosted Demo (my install is down).

I sent a email to one address. The "From" column shows then "Dan Demouser" only instead of the "To" address.

Sorry, this is a bug, even in conversation view.

In conversation view, it is supposed to show 'From'_Header and From_Addresses itself - because you are viewing *conversation*.

However if you are viewing the message(by message view) then it should show the To_header and To_EmailAddres(this is broken and there is a saperate bug for this as)

Default Please use "participants"

Please use "Participants" for the header of the column now called "From" in the conversation view.

You're scrambling my mind.

You should not use "From" in conversation view and "From" in message view, if these two columns show mean/something different.

Respect the trained associations and expectations of your users, who used traditional MUAs.

In "Sent" folders I use always use a "To" column for a good reason: To distinguish the email there in. Just start a new Zimbra Hosted Demo session and wittness the chaos in the "Sent" folder.
