re: why don't your just integrate cyrus-imap.
ZCS server does a lot of things that cyrus-imap doesn't. It's a
calendar server, it's an admin server, it's an index of all your
collab data, and it's going to be a lot more things in the future.
cyrus-imap just does email/IMAP, albeit very very well. For a sound
architecture for all the things we do, and we will do, it does not
make sense for us to store email inside cyrus-imap, and then deal with
all the other data differently. We will support murder like
functionality pretty soon.
ZCS works in a distributed environment
ZCS can be installed, relatively simply, in this kind of architecture. Install the ldap server first, then subsequent installs can be configured to run any combination of mta and/or store servers on diverse servers.
