Default Stationary

Several of my clients miss the stationary (html backgrounds) from Outlook. Personally I think its ugly and annoying but does anyone have any ideas for being able to define a per user basic background colors or patterns in the main web client?

Stationary.... the bane of Exchange Admins EVERYWHERE. Those blasted little things are sent as an attatchment on every single email that is sent. That wastes an utterly obscene amount of space on a server when people are emailing back and forth. My company is actually trying to put a policy in place to prohibit them, because in the matter of two months, one of our group mailstores on our exchange box grew from 3.56GB to 185GB ! !

I hope that ZCS actively refuses to put this support in the web client. If you have NE with the Outlook connector, then users can use stationary with their outlook.. but don't complain when the size of their store increases exponentially.

I cannot think of a compelling reason to support them. I hope that if Zimbra does someday include the functionality that it can be turned off by the admin.

I can do you one better:

Have a rule where it scans an HTML email for a background image tag... then blows that away, and strips the file attatchment referenced by it from the email.
Keep those users on lockdown!

You'll notice I'm not asking for Outlook Stationary, just an easy way to define the background color - similar to defining the font color when composing html mail.

I'd be interested in how to implement AimanA's suggestion of completely killing background images if anyone has an idea?

Oh dear. lol. I was being completely facetious when I suggested that little mod.

It was sort of in the spirit of the BOFH (bastard operator from hell) series that is on the register.co.uk lololol

I am certain that it could somehow be done.. but I am not 100% sure how. If someone wants to point me in the right direction, I could see what I could do. I would want the attatchment to go away before it even touched the mailstore. A rule to block displaying it wouldn't save the diskspace....

All my users are running the web client, so they're obviously not using background images / stationary. However, I was wondering how inbound messages might have such images extricated.
