Default Full Email archiving

I'm new to uzing Zimbra, and so far I like it, but I'm having trouble replicating a feature I need. On my previous system, I had a procmail rule which would save a copy of every email I got into an Archive folder. This was so I never had to worry about losing an email forever. I would always have the ability to search the archive folder and find any email I received.

Is it possible, either with a Zimbra filter or some other way to get this same funcionality? I don't see "copy" as an option for the filters. Also, do the filters run server-side, so that it would still copy all the emails even when no client is running?

Look in the options and forward a copy to another account.

But wouldn't that require that I log in to a completely separate account to search my archive? I'm looking for something just like that but instead of forwarding to another account, it would save a copy to a folder.

Then set-up a filter and file them into a folder.

I must not have been clear enough. this is supposed to be a copy, not a move. It's intended for a complete archive, separate from my inbox. I don't see any option to save a _copy_ of a message, just a way to move a message.

If it's a copy you want then my original suggestion is the only way to do it. If you keep all your original mail in your account why would you need to search the archive except for a (possibly) rare occasion when you thought you might have lost something? You should also search bugzilla for any RFEs for this type of feature and vote on them.

The way I work is that I use my inbox only for the messages I need to act on. I then use saved searches to categorize the archive, so I don't have to waste my time filing messages, which would be imprecise and only lets you categorize a message one way.

I'll search for an enhancement.

FYI,

I found a suitable workaround to the lack of "copy". Apparently, while you can't copy a message directly in a filter, you CAN both file a message to another folder AND keep it in the inbox. This effectively does the copy.
