What are you using as a client? It needs to support HTTP Basic auth and you should get prompted for your username and password.

that should be working, I just tried it against our internal mail which is running M2. If the account you are going to isn't the default domain name, then make sure you use /service/user/user@domain/calendar.ics, or better yet just use: /service/user/~/calendar.ics.

Note, you also have to type in user@domain.name as the user name in the basic auth dialog box if you don't have the default domain set.

i just tried that to no avail. it seems ical is trying to make the url http://user@name@domain_name/service...e/calendar.ics. could this be the reason? i think it may not be reading the '@' in the first username correctly. it is coming up as a %40

This works fine for me in ical:

http://server/service/user/~/calendar.isc

If I view the URL in ical (right-click change URL), it looks like:

http://schemers@server/user/~/calendar.ics

But it still works. BTW, I have had trouble actually changing the URL with change URL and generally delete the calendar and re-subscribe.

i found out what my issue was. zimbra doesn't seem to like using IP's instead of hostnames when subscribing to the calendars. i registered dns for the server and it worked fine.
