Default Configuring Outlook express

Hi,

I could not find any information in the forums or on Wiki pages on how I can configure Outlook express to work with Zimbra. If the IP address used to access Zimbra from the web browser is 123.23.2.2, then how should I configure it?

I am currently working with latest version 4.5.2 network edition. I could find that the POP port is 110, but I could not find port number mentioned in the zimbra documentation.

so, please help me on how I can configure zimbra account with Outlook express.

Thanks

Hi mansuper,
It really depends on whether your using TLS or not. Have you read this thread:
How to configure SMTP AUTH (TLS) with Outlook Express

Hi John,

I read that thread it did not work for me. What is TLS? As I mentioned in my earlier post that I am trying to configure the outlook express by using my IP address. Any other ideas please?

Thanks

TLS stands for Transport Layer Security. It is the latest version of SSL. It is an enhancement of SSL version 3.0, and is a proposed Internet Standard (see RFC2246).

If you know the ip address, then you should be able to when ever it asks for a server name, to enter your ip.

I tried this way by using the IP address. But, got the following prompts which are not allowing me to send and receive emails.

Its prompts me enter the login name and passoword again and again even though they were correct.

Any ideas please?

Looks like you have TLS enabled. You need to enable it in OE.
You can do this by editing the pop account and enabling TLS/SSL

I have another problem. Why is the folder hierarchy different in the OE to that of what we see in the Zimbra web client? It's different for me.

Are you using pop3 or imap access?
If you're using pop3, then only inbox will be displayed.

If you're using IMAP, you need to specify which folders get downloaded.

ONLY IF IMAP:
1) Choose the Tools Menu
2) Choose Folders, and select which ones you want
