Lightbulb Forum Spam Moderation

I couldn't add to the original announcement thread so I'm putting this here.

I was simply wondering if there was a way (and maybe this is already in place) that existing forum users -- say those with more than 10 approved postings were automatically approved by default. From what I had noticed, the spammers were new accounts that only posted once or twice.

What do you think?

The spam problem is being addressed at the moment.

MindSpeck,
Can you please elaborate on the error you received while attempting to add to the thread?

The message I get when trying to add to the original announcement is as follows:
Code:
MidSpeck, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

   1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
   2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
I wasn't too concerned about not being about to add to the Announcements category though. I just figured that was limited to moderators which is why I posted my suggestion here.

I have not had any problems posting, but then again, I rarely link externally and practically never post an image. I was simply giving a suggestion of a possible improvement.

Hey Mindspeck,
Thanks for the notice. I'll take a look at that.

I did forward your suggestion onto the team. We're currently looking for wayt to better improve, and thanks for your input.

Let me know if you need anything,
john
