    Default Zimbra contact synchronisation software/addons?

    Hi

I am searching for an posibility to synchronice contacts with zimbra.
Currently we use Thunderbird with zindus.

But zindus is end of life (Zindus) and will not work with Thunderbird 24.

    Are there any alternatives?

    Hy yogg,

    Are you using only Thunderbird?

I ask this because zindus becames end-of-life after a Thunderbird's announcement:
On July 6, 2012, the Mozilla Foundation announced that while they will no longer be focused on innovations for Thunderbird, they would provide support until the second half of 2013. In addition, future Thunderbird development will be transitioned to a community-driven model.
So I suggest to evaluate others clients that implement EAS (like Windows Mail 8 or Outlook 2013), so you can synchronize the calendar also.

Why not try something really dramatic and use Zimbra Desktop? It will sync your contacts as well as email - try it and see if it suits you.

Why should this anoucement imply that zindus or any other plugin is EOL?
I only read that future development of Thunderbird was given to the community. I don't see any problems here.
By the way how can I sync calendar/contacts with Outlook? Only way that I know is the Zimbra Connector that would only come with an Zimbra Network Edition Server (I prefere free alternatives, if possible cross platform ones).

Thanks for the reply, but i don't get it.
There was an anoucment that ZD is also EOL?

I read Zimbra Desktop EOL and ZD future EOL.
There is some talking about ZD2, but I can't find anything about ZD2?
On Zimbra Donwload Page I only see Zimbra Desktop 7.2.3 (Zimbra Desktop).
    Please bring light to me.

Is there a way to use the ZD adress book in Libreoffice and/or MS Office for seraial letters?

You can Try ZeXtras Mobile (part of ZeXtras Suite). It works both on Zimbra Network Edition Server and Zimbra Open Source Edition. It officially support Outlook 2013 by EAS protocol (Push mail, calendars and Address-books).
It's not free, but in my opinion it worth.

So what, it doesn't stop ZD working and it's only EOL because a replacement for it is under development.

ZeXtras is not free (only 30 day trial).
And to tell all users please buy the new MS Office 2013 package is ...

My slang (but I think I should not use it anymore ) -> I don't understand your suggestion for ZD because I know that it is also EOL.

Would not be a problem for me, but maybe for other users.
If I tell someone use this and in some time you get an replacement that is maybe completely different he would ask me if I'm crazy.

I have played now a litte with the "cardav" protocoll. This works nearly fine.
I can see all my Zimbra contacts and also can edit them, but I can't add new contacts to Zimbra

All products change over time so I don't see the problem with using ZD at this time then moving to the replacement but as you seem intent on making life more difficult for the users I'll leave you to it.
