Talking ReminderFox Alternative

Hi Guys,

Just came across the latest version of rainlender

http://www.rainlendar.net/cms/index.php

and noticed it supported Zimbra's remote calender functions. I'm running a personal OSS install of Zimbra and using Rainlender I am able to pull and push my calender from my zimbra server and sync with multiple PC's.

You need to Pro version (puts an 'Unregistered' stamp ONLY in the Rainlender view, not in the actual calender info until you pay up)

Anyhoo, here's how I did it.

DL Rainlender and install, right click calendar > options > calendars, click Add, Type is Network Shared Calendar, URL is

httpS://SERVERNAME/service/home/USER...lendar?fmt=ics

(mind the http vs https)

plus your username and password.

Done. In a sec it should grab your Zimbra calendar and you are ready to insert your own events. So far I have tested that Summary, Location, start and end times, the memo, and recurring events work.

If someone knows if a different calendar in the zimbra URL will allow the user to access his/her different calendar's I would be interested in knowing what that is.

-Cheers!

James

Works for me, nice to have a calendar on the desktop showing my appointments etc, but I dont know if I'd pay extra for this functionality, unless it does more that I'm not noticing?

Will it alert you prior to an appointment by default? If I add an appointment in Zimbra does it know to alert me on the desktop?

* Ah i don't think it does that, but I installed it and it works better than anything else Ive tried to date. Thanks for the tip.

I don't remember how/if that works. Glad you like though.
