Default Zimbra 8 new search dialog

    Hi,

Zimbra 8 introduced a new search dialog. When you enter a search command like "from:john vacation", you get a new tab with your search, and in the text box with your search, you see "balloons" with your search terms, like this:

Can that be disabled to get the original behavior back? I don't like this new behavior, because:

    • one search command is often not enough and you want to refine it. But, those 'balloons' are not editable.
    • You can delete those balloons, but they cause the search command to be executed again without pressing enter, making it slow if you want to add stuff.

So, I keep going back to the search bar at the top, but because that doesn't have my search in it anymore, I need to remember to copy it, so that I can repaste it when I need to refine the search.

Double-click the bubbles (or balloons) to turn them into editable text, and there's no need to press enter after each one. Additional text can be added directly and terms can be space-separated. When the search runs, the text will be converted into bubbles.

Ah, you can double-click them. Thanks

However, I think I still prefer the original search system.

    Hi there,

There is one more thing with the new search, with zimbra 7 we could drag and drop to a folder and the left side.
Now we have to use the right clic.

Is there a way to have the folders bach instead of the "advanced filter" ?

    Many thanks for your help.

Posting that comment here will little or no effect, how about filing an RFE in bugzilla if you'd like different behaviour?
    Regards

I have a question related to this issue, has searching by special dates been removed? I want to search by messages sent today/yesterday/this week/etc. Using specific dates doesn't cut it for this as I'd like to setup a search filter. I was able to do this in Zimbra 7, it doesn't seem to work anymore in 8, btw, the availability of this type of searching is still there in /opt/zimbra/docs/query.txt. The syntax it represents is below

NOTE: need to figure out how to represent "this week", "last week", "this month", etc. probably
some special casing of relative dates and use with after/before. i.e., maybe "after:-2d AND before:0d" means
yesterday? i.e., for relative day/week/month/year, you zero out month/week/day/hour/minute?

    last 4 hours: after:-4hour
    today: after:0day
    yesterday: (after:-2day AND before:0day)
    this week: after:0week
    last week: (after:-2week AND before:0week)
    this month: after:0month
    last month: (after:-2month AND before:0month)
    this year: after:0year
    last year: (after:-2year AND before:0year)
    last year and older: before:0year

You're right. The syntax is still supported if you type it directly in, but the filter pickers don't allow you to do this via mouse clicks. We have a bug filed for this here: https://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=76858

That's a separate issue from what I mentioned, what I'm saying is that the syntax is NOT supported, or at least not fully supported, you can no longer do text searches for things like "after:0day" these always fail with a syntax error. I'm just wondering if there's a resolution for this?
