Question Share calendar between 2 instances of zimbra

I have zimbra on 2 different servers for 2 different domains. I want to share a calendar from say user 'a' on domain 'b' to user 'c' on domain 'd'.

I did the share calendar to 'external guests (view only)' with password and an email was sent to user 'c'. It showed up with the accept/decline buttons, I clicked accept, but never prompted for a password and appointments don't show up though calendar is added to list of calendars.

It seems like this should be possible, but I can't get it to work...

Anybody tried this?

Default Not if on different LDAP

If the two servers use two different, non-shared LDAP instances, I don't think this will work.

Yea, these are non-shared LDAP servers.

Would be nice if the ajax client calendar UI could accept credentials for viewing remote calendars. Since Zimbra will achieve world-domination in a year or so, it seems reasonable to expect that 2 unrelated zimbra servers can share calendars, no?

Anyone think this is a good idea for an enhancement request?

Thanks,
John

Cool Ok, things are much clearer now...

Dan Karp was kind enough to straighten me out on how this works. If you share a calendar for public viewing, then Zimbra can pull it in via an iCal (ics) URL for the calendar.

However, 4.0.x doesn't support authenticated URL's so only public shares are supported at present. This has been fixed in ZCS 4.5 so you *can* do authenticated shares by embedding the username/password in the URL.

I wrote a wiki page for anyone interested in the details of how to do this: http://wiki.zimbra.com/index.php?tit..._iCal_Calendar
