Default conversation span feature if subject is changed: manual-reintegration

Hello,

some of our "mail-partners" do always remove/change the subjet of our mails.

1.
Are such mails still part of that "conversation"?

2.
If not, how can such "out_of_conversation-mails" made manually part of the conversation?

Thank's a lot for your tips,

John

There's an RFE in bugzilla for 'merging' conversations, search for it and vote on it.

Hi Bill,

sorry, but I am unable to find a RFE/bug with the string "merging".
Am I doing something wrong?

Thank's a lot!

Sorry, I should have said 'merge', it's bug 451.

ok, i did read RFC 451, but I do not compleatly understand it..

Sometimes recipients do erase the mailbody and change the subject :-(

My question:
Are such returned/answered mails still part of the conversation?
Or is RFC 451 required that such a mail could be re-integrated to the
conversation-span?

Thank for your feedback!

John

If somebody changes the subject then it's not likely to be part of the same thread. The RFE 451 is meant to give the ability for a user to add other posts to a thread or split a thread into 'parts'. That bug isn't likely to be a high priority as there's only 6 votes for it.

Thank's Phoenix for the feedback! Unfortunately that is exactly too often the case!!

Does that mean, if users do delete the mailbody/content the mails will be
part of the same conversation span?

Thank's!

John

The goal: Regardless of mail body or subject lines-to merge two emails into one conversation/thread (or split convos/threads) using the web client.
