Default Virtual Folders

I like folders. I like tags. I like search folders. I think having all these together and differentiated equals clutter in the user interface.

I know this might sound too bold, but I would suggest virtual folders as a unique metaphor that would embrace all those ideas in one. When every folder is virtual it can act as a real folder, it can hold tagged emails or it can hold searches. I find no need to make it look any different from an organizational (user interface, user interaction design, you name it) point of view.

Good work anyway, Once you get this software running faster (see my other post) I'll buy it!

They are all the same thing from the server's perspective. Everything is just a search. So inbox is just "in:inbox". So are you just suggesting from the UI we hide the idea of Tags, Folders, and Searches? If we just call it Virtual Folders some currnet mail users may get lost in the UI. You can of course colapse any of them if they annoy you. Were just trying to cater to all user types.

Default I like the idea of "Hiding" Searches, Tags, and Zimlets menus

I like the idea of being able to "Hide" the Tags, Searches, and Zimlets menu options! I prefer the idea of just using virtual folders. Maybe there is another tab in the user preferences that says "Menu" or something like that. Then, the user can decide which of these to display in their menu.

We don't offer this choice to user's directly. You can control all this as an admin though.
