    Default Accented (French) characters in Zimbra emails

    Hi

    I have been looking around the web and this forum for the last week or so, but am unable to find the solution. When I receive emails in French, i see this:

    Ainsi s'accomplit ce que le proph�te Esa�e avait pr�dit: Seigneur, qui a cru � ce que nous avons pr�ch� et � qui ta puissance a-t-elle �t� r�v�l�e, � Dieu? Pourquoi ne pouvaient-ils pas croire? C'est encore Esa�e qui nous en donne la raison quand il dit: Dieu les a aveugl�s, il les a rendus insensibles, afin que leurs yeux ne voient pas, que leur c&#;ur ne comprenne pas, qu'ils ne se tournent pas vers lui pour qu'il les gu�risse. Esa�e a dit cela parce qu'il avait vu la gloire de J�sus et qu'il parlait de lui. Et pourtant, m�me parmi les dirigeants, beaucoup crurent en lui; mais, � cause des pharisiens, ils n'osaient pas le reconna�tre ouvertement de peur d'�tre exclus de la synagogue. Car ils tenaient davantage � l'approbation des hommes qu'� celle de Dieu.

    I use Zimbra OS 7.1.3GA. I see the above displayed no matter which browser I use. I have tried it in FF13, Chrome Version 19.0.1084.56, Safari Version 5.0.2 (6533.18.5) and even (dare I admit this) IE 7,8,9. I have tried it on Mac OSX 10.6.5, Centos 5, 6, Fedora 16, Ubuntu, Windows XP, Win7, Win2003 and Win2008.

    The reason I tried this many combinations is due to the myriad of posts advising different OS and browsers.

    Can anybody please help in fixing this.

    Is there absolutely no one that can shed or even suggest solution to this problem? This is not just for one user either, but the whole server is affected. I have upgraded to 7.2.0 and the same problem exist.

    The usual reason for no replies is that you've either provided insufficient information (about the problem or any solutions you've tried) or people don't know the answer or don't experience the problem.

    FWIW, I don't see that problem all my (French) email arrives and is visible with the accents intact and this is on a ZCS 7.2 server. You've given no details of where this server is located nor what the default country setting are (in ZCS, the server locale or the character set in use). What investigation have you done on this subject, have you searched the forum and tried some of the solutions there?

    First line says I have been searching the forums for the last week or so. What this also impolies is that I have seen relevant forums but in most cases the posts I did find did not offer a solution or had any suggestions as to a fix.

    I though that trying the same emails from 3 different os with 3 different browsers would point to zimbra as the first point to start looking for a fix.

    Server is centos5_64
    in the UK with UK as default settings.
    utf8 is used

    I prefer statements to be definitive not implied, I don't know what you've seen nor tried as my telepathic powers don't work at the moment.

    It doesn't necessarily imply anything, as I said it works for me and I get plenty of email in French and it all displays correctly without any problem. I have a server that's located here in France but is configured with UK timezone, UTF8 and the local is the UK and there's no problems in displaying any accented characters.

    How about also giving us details of where the clients that you used are located and what locale they are configured for. You should also update your forum profile with the output of the following command (do not post the output in this thread):

    It appears as though this post, the same as all of the other posts regarding the same issue, will just be forgotten about.

    Will just take it that there is no fix and will need to find an alternative solution. Creativity will be the name of the game.

    Not really, I thought I'd asked you for further information or is "UK based" it? You do realise, I guess, that these forums are Community supported and people post and answer questions when they have the time. Just for the record, I most likely won't be replying to this thread as I'm away for the next two weeks.

    You could also post the complete output of a 'Show Origina' for one of the emails to see exactly what's in it and include full details of the client operating system and the browser in use.

    I thought that was part of the normal debugging and investigation process.
    What more can I say about the clients. They are UK based MAC, Linux, Windows wirh UK locale and OS as specified in my original post. What more do you need?

    I searched all the formus as I specified in my last post. None of these have solutions regarding similar, but not the same issue.

    As for being creative, I did as much investigation as I could, hence the post here.

    I think this thread also need to be closed as I am now bored with this.

    Will just take it as no solution, just like the other threads I listed.

    Why do you keep telling me you've searched the forums? I understood that the first time you told me. I asked you for more information but if you're not interested in providing it or you've lost interest then fine, file a bug report. If you're bored then I'm sorry to have wasted your time trying to help.
