Question Middle mouse button scroll

Hello!

I'm a fairly new Zimbra administrator and have been slowly learning my way around this neat system.

I've recently moved up in the world and graduated to having my own desk- which means I can use my own equipment.

My mouse of choice (Don't hate me) is an old Logitech Trackman Marble mouse.

For anyone else who has used these, you'll quickly notice the lack of scroll wheel. Fortunately, browsers these days all support the middle mouse button scroll! Even right here on this forum, I can click the middle mouse button (Which is by my thumb in this case) and my cursor will become a scroll anchor.

Unfortunately, it seems this feature simply does not work in the Zimbra UI. I'm assuming it has something to do with the interface coding (ajax?) but I'm not sure.

If anyone has more information about why that might not work, I might be able to dig up a solution... but so far I'm stumped. I can't tell if it's a Zimbra UI bug, an Ajax bug, a Javascript issue, or a browser problem- but I get identical results in Chrome, Firefox(3.6) and IE9.

Upon further investigation, I've decided that this is an issue relating to how the Zimbra UI interprets mouse clicks.
Since the Right-click functionality brings up a Zimbra menu rather than a browser menu, I think that something in the Zimbra UI code is intercepting (and thusly ignoring) the middle mouse click.
Not so sure where to take it from here... Suggestions welcome!

I hate to be the guy who talks to himself publicly, but just something else I've noted, which more or less confirms my previous thought.

Upon hitting reply/forward to an email, the new window which opens DOES allow for middle click scroll functionality in the composition area of the email.

Does anyone else consider this a bug?
