Default I don't want a URL to be linked

I would like to send an email that contains a URL. I do not want people to click the URL, it is part of a set of instructions and they are to copy/paste the URL into a dialog. If the email is html formatted there is no way to "unlink" the URL. If the message is formatted plain text, then the URL does not appear to be linked when I compose, but when the email is received the viewed email contains a click-able URL.

This email was sent to a small set of people to review and 2 out of 5 opened the email, clicked on the URL, got an error message and sent me a message back saying that it did not work. I plan to send this to about 60-70 folks and I am afraid several will do the same thing.
