Default Cursor disappears when replying to emails

I've got a bunch of users reporting to me that while they are replying to emails, the screen will "flicker" and then the cursor disappears and loses focus from the message.

Is there any way to fix this via a preference setting?

Zimbra doesn't control the cursor in that sense. it is going to be a browser or javascript issue.

What browser and operating systems are these users using?

The problem occurs in either Firefox or Chrome (I've got users reporting the issue using either browser). One of my users I had test Chrome out, and the problem still exists (They were using Firefox).

As far as Java, they are using v1.6.0.26.

We've been using Zimbra for over 4 years now, and this problem hadn't existed until we upgraded from v5.0.16 to v7.1.2. Everything "seems" to be working great other than this focus issue. It's as if the focus on where the cursor is just changes on the fly.

Default We are seeing the same thing

Hi,

We have had reports from users running Firefox 6.0.2 of the same issue since upgrading to 7.1.2 last week. The refresh is not time based, but appears to be related to typing the email contents. Every N words the refresh kicks in, the screen flashes, and the cursor is no longer in the compose text causing subsequent typing to be lost until the user grabs the mouse and clicks in the email again (N is hard to pin down, doesn't appear to be related to misspelling, however I do suspect the spell checker).

Cheers, Ed.

We are seeing the same issue.. since running 7.1.2

All browsers (on Windows = Firefox, IE + Mac Safari, Firefox) on windows and OS X.

No idea of fix (might try turning off spellcheck and see if that helps)

I've got no solution for this, and it's quickly driving my users up a wall. *sigh*

I bet you're runing into https://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=63469, which is fixed in 7.1.3. That bug only happens when opening a previously saved draft. As a workaround you can disable the autosave feature.

I'm using 7.1.2 and XP SP3 and I get this problem sometimes, I have it right now... with new messages, draft messages, reply messages, any kind of messages.

Cursor behaves funny, disappears, jumps around and is generally highly annoying. Makes Zimbra nearly unusuable its so bad. Almost seems like someone wrote a virus just to optimize the annoyance factor.

Closing and reopening Zimbra doesn't fix it.

Ryan1, what browser are you using? Do you compose in the main zimbra window or new window? Do you have any other suggestions for how I can repro the problem?
