Default Why no Tasks in Calendar???

Just started using a hosted version of Zimbra, and for the life of me, I cant figure out how to display a task in the Calendar... It seems that calendars is only for appointments. I suppose I could just use an appointment to book a task! But then why bother having tasks!

A task is something you need to do, which usually involves a period of time, so it makes sens that you would want to be able to enter it into the calendar, along with your appointments...

Am I missing something???

Even with Outlook, any created task does not show on the calender. The tasks do show on the task window. The ZCS does not have this feature and all tasks must be viewed on the Task tab.

Yes, I can unerstand that. by my question was why?

I personally feel Zimbra is much more than outlook and could be even more.. its a great product, but as a new user, I was just simply suprised at this issue.

Surely a task can have an associated appointment on a calendar, otherwise its like running 2 completely different schedules.. A calendar should be multifuncitonal and allow for anything to be scheduled, whether it be a task or an appointment.. Everything all in one place, rather than fragmented...

I want tobe able to simply look at a calender for the motnh and see appoitnments and tasks in one place rather than having to look at tasks and make sure they dont conflict with anything on the calendar... surely thats the important bit?

From a calendar point of view.. surely a task and an appoitntment are the same... its a n allocated slot of time in which you can assign to something, whether that be a job or a meeting or something else is not really important.. but being able to see everything in once place is..

Sorry.. rant over!!

Unfortunately a task is not the same as an appointment. A task is manly used for project management. keeping track of other co-workers jobs and assigned projects.

Calendar appointments are greatly used for scheduling conference calls, meetings, doctor appointments, even employee shift schedules.

I understand you wish the time stamp of a task from start to estimated finish time to be seen within a calendar. this feature is really only used in Outlook 2010 where a separate task box is shown near the bottom of the calendar screen not shown in the calendar.

Best Regards,

Tasks are used by people for many reasons. Tasks are not 'mainly' for 'project management'. Balancing workload management actually demands that we can view our task load alongside our meeting load. Not seeing both together is like driving down the highway with one eye shut.

This is not really a bug as it is usability of the program. report it as a bug and vote on it.
