Default Zimbra and Apple Mail (Mac OS X Lion) Problem

Hi,

since we updated from Snow Leopard to Lion, we've a serious Problem with Zimbra and Apple Mail.

Apple Mail doesn't recognize any folder of our Zimbra Accounts, it _ONLY_ displays the inbox.

We conntect our Apple Mail clients with IMAP to Zimbra.

I've tested the Apple Mail Client, with some of my other Email Accounts (yahoo, gmail, qmail) and there everything is working.

I hope you can help me.

Best regards,
Florian

Just a +1 to note that the same is happening to me on two separate Macs, one upgraded from the Developer Preview, another from the latest Snow Leopard release.

I actually noticed something was wrong a few days ago, when a folder I created in SL did not propagate to Mail.app on the Lion GM. I also had the "LSUB" error in Thunderbird 5 running on Lion, and Postbox only listed Inbox and Trash as well.

Interestingly, Sparrow works fine, but I would prefer to use Mail.app.

I just experienced the same issue with Lion. Looking in mailbox.log, I found that every time Mail.app logged in, it was failing looking for a mail folder named /Events -- which didn't exist in my mailbox.

When I logged into the ZCS web interface and added an Events folder, and then ctrl-clicked my mailbox and selected Synchronize in Lion Mail.app, all of my folders appeared.

As such, I recommend logging into your account in the ZCS web interface, clicking on the Add Folder button, creating the folder Events (under folders, not under the Inbox), and then trying to re-synchronize in Mail.app.

I've filed a bug on this in Bugzilla, Bug 62384 – IMAP folders not appearing in Mac OS 10.7 Lion Mail.app Mail Client

Dave, that was a brilliant suggestion! It seems I finally solved this – I also had a "ghost" folder in my subscribed folders list, apparently left over from a Zimbra shared mail folder.

For future reference:
  1. Use "tail -50 /opt/zimbra/log/mailbox.log" on the server to check for LSUB errors ("imap - LSUB failed")
  2. Look for "com.zimbra.cs.mailbox.MailServiceException$NoSuch ItemException: no such folder path" followed by the path of the missing physical folder(s).
  3. Now go ahead and recreate the folder(s) or, in my case, a 2-level folder structure, and voila!

A quick update on this... If you have several 'ghost' folders as I did, add them all through the web UI and once Mail.app has sync'd everything you can safely delete these folders through Mail and syncing continues to work.
