Angry Zimbra NE price increase of 42% ????

Hi ...

can anyone please tell me if I'm speaking to the wrong Zimbra sales rep or what's happening here?

Last years renewal (150 mailboxes) was at 800 US$ per 25 licenses.

This years renewal (200 mailboxes), Zimbra wants to charge us 962.50 € per 25 licences, which comes down to around 1377 US$.

Ok, I know the Euro is strong but a price increase of 42% without any prior notice is very steep. We would have to reconsider using Zimbra.

Is Vmware trying to squeeze every penny out of existing customers or is this a mistake?

Regards

Why don't you check on the Pricing page?

I did but the figures above are the prices a Zimbra sales rep gave me for the Euro zone!

Then I would guess that's the price but if you have a problem then query it again with your sales contact.

We also were just quoted a price increase over last years renewal (even after going back to the sales rep wondering what happened to our HSP discount) and are seriously debating on keeping Zimbra or just going with Google Apps, or some other hosted solution. The web interface is less important to us as it once was thanks to the use of tablets and phones now with their own mail apps. In fact zimbra's documents feature and tasks are taking a back seat to services such as evernote and springpad, etc, with Zimbra still not having its own APP for Android (our primary devices) or even iOS.

I'm VERY disappointed after using zimbra for several years now that they want to increase the license renewal fees, even more so after every single release they have breaks something on our servers. We were even without Mobile Sync (activesync) for a month until an update was released when 7.0 came out and every time there is an update we still deal with issues of incompatibility with activesync apps and services..

We will be doing an indepth review of Zimbra shortly and will compare it to other services available and will post this to the public through our affiliated blog, google+, twitter, etc.

With everyone adopting tablets, smartphones, etc - this is not the time Zimbra should be increasing its pricing, IMHO.
