Speeding up the webUI

Our workstations meet the hardware requirements but just barely meet the recommended hardware. Does anyone know if disabling unused features such as documents will speed up the webUI? Are some themes/skins more resource hungry/friendly?

I've already recommended all uses to use firefox.

Yes, running the latest version of Firefox is the best recommendation you can make. Removing Zimlet's helps a little. Turning off features also will help a little. In a future version we have a couple things planned to help those on very slow connections or with low end PC's. Incremental lazy loading of application code on demand rather all at once. General code optimization to find bottlenecks and minimize CPU usage.
