Default zimbra-generated .ics files truncate event descriptions

Hi All,

We're currently doing a slow rollout of the OSE of Zimbra (using 4.0.3 on FC4), with a focus on shared calendaring (both internal and external). The plan is to eventually move to the network edition, and we've been very impressed so far. We need to grant public access to certian calendars, so I've set up a second web server that uses cron/wget to pull the public .ics files from the zimbra server and display them via phpicalendar.

That works, but the descriptions for each event are truncated to about 150 characters (the same text that the Zimbra AJAX client displays when you mouseover an event). It seems that the .ics file that zimbra generates do not include the *entire* body of an event's description. Users here who use iCal-compliant calendar apps (iCal, Sunbird) have verified the issue as well, so the problem seems to originate in the ZCS.

This is a problem for us as we have fairly detailed descriptions that we need to have visible. I've searched around the forum and did not see any discussion on this issue, but perhaps I missed something obvious.

I'd be happy to submit this via bugzilla if it hasn't yet been logged, etc... just let me know what you need. Thanks in advance, and many thanks for an awesome product!

Matt

I faced the same problem and I so did someone else (can't remember this post).

Many thanks. I'm happy to see it is logged as a bug. Looking forward to a fix in one of the next releases. Take care and keep up the terrific work.

Default This sollution does not truncate text in PHPiCalendar

I'm using PHPiCalendar and a script posted here to retreive the calendars that I want.

When the calendars are retreived in this way the details are not truncated, I tested it for a 400 character description and it worked fine for me.
