Default [SOLVED] Send from: specify different email account or distribution list

Hi,

ZCS: 7.1.0_GA_3140.RHELF5_64_20110329135300
Zimbra Desktop 7.01b10791

Is there any way to set Mail client app to select a different 'send from' field? For example from a distribution list?

i.e.
user: joe bloggs
email address: joe.bloggs@domain.ext
distribution list: sales@domain.ext , hr@domain.net

if joe.bloggs receives an email sent to sales@domain.ext how can i configure zimbra to reply using sales@domain.ext? would i be able to choose what distribution list to send from? e.g. instead of using sales@domain.ext can i select to respond from hr@domain.net?

thanks

Hi,

you can do as follows:

from the admin console edit the account 'joe bloggs', and in tab 'Preferences' specify in the 'Allow sending email only from these addresses' attribute
the distribution list's address 'sales@domain.ext'.
Then, you have to log in the zimbra web client, select the 'Preferences' tab -> 'Account' and add the persona specifying
all the settings you want.

Regards

Perfect....only one question and more from a widescale perspective - can the personas not be created automatically for each email address set under account | preferences | 'allow sending email from these addresses'

if so how would this be done?

Your message 'Then, you have to log in the zimbra web client, select the 'Preferences' tab -> 'Account' and add the persona specifying
all the settings you want.'

Is there no method for Zimbra to do this automatically when you add an email address to: Joe.Bloggs | Preferences | 'allow sending email from these addresses'... via the Zimbra Admin Page.

No, you cannot do it automatically. You enable the attribute from admin console but, after do this, you have to add persona from ZWC.

I know this is an old thread but I had a quick question... can you do the Preferences tab -> 'Account' stuff it via the command line instead of the GUI?
