Full Address Book Sync w/ iPhone

Hello,

Is there anyway to sync users' address books to an iPhone's address book? It appears the GAL is synced, but that only includes Zimbra accounts. We'd like to have a 'company directory' available to our iPhones however that directory would include many more entries than just accounts in Zimbra. Is this possible?

Alternatively is there a way to add non-account contact entries into the GAL?

If you are using ActiveSync, then your address books should sync already.

However, shared address books won't sync over ActiveSync. See Bug 30950 – iphone: sync with shared contacts and calendars

Shared address books might sync over CardDAV.

I just tested CardDAV on an iPhone w/ Zimbra. Shared contacts do not sync. Is there anyway to add non-account contact entries into the GAL?

did you found a solution.
i testet it on and iphone 3g ios 4.1, iphone 4 ios 5.0.1 and android 2.3.7. shared contacts are not synced
