Default Pop3

Hello,

We are using ZCS 7.0 and Thunderbird as our mail client. It is possible to send email using POP3? If it is possible, how can we do that?

Thanks and regards,
Darwin

Enter the details of the Zimbra server in the configuration for your outbound server, if you don't know what they are then ask your mail administrator.

Hi Bill,

Thank you for the quick response. I am the mail administrator of ZCS. I am goggling the net, even red the Zimbra OS Admin Guide 7.0 and do not find any "how to". I am newbie in administering the ZCS.

The 'how to' is not a Zimbra question, it's a configuration for Thunderbird. You need to enter the address of your mail server and the (correct) POP3 port depending on whether you're using SSL (you should be) or not. By default, Zimbra has the OP & IMAP services enabled, go to the Admin UI and check they're enabled and that SSL is configured for them.

Hi Bill,

I have no problem with POP mail server and IMAP. The POP & IMAP services are enabled from Zimbra. What we would like to do is to use the POP mail server port in outgoing Server (SMTP), instead of port 465 or 25. Is that possible in email client? I know that SMTP uses either port 465 or 25 as the default port. If i use the pop port in SMTP, then it will try to connect with pop protocol is 'speaking the wrong lunguage' so to speak. The message is "An error occured sending mail: The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: +OK POP3 ready."

Regards,
Darwin

You don't use the POP3 service to send email (that isn't possible nor does it make sense) you use the Submission port and that would be 587 and it requires you to authenticate and use SSL.
