Default New Version Details

Just to clarify, it looks like with the release of the network version of your software you will be adding more functionality and charging on a per account basis. Will you offer any of this new functionality without having to pay? If so where do you draw the line between paying and non-paying functionality?

They are continuing work on both the Open Source and Network editions of Zimbra. There will be a lot of functionality available in the Open Source version that doesn't require any payment.

The Network version will contain things like Outlook support, clustering, live backups, and delegated administration. This will all cost money.

The following is a list of what will be available in the Network version:

What's in the Open Source Edition vs. Network Standard Edition

Have a good one,

Default Pricing Scheme Suggestion

Thanks for clarifying.

As I've seen in some other posts there has been some interest in mixing both paying and non paying packages for people who have some users who would need the added functionality for outlook while others would only want the basic suite. I am also interested in this however I don't see how you could have a features like delegated administration, support, and full access to the knowledge base only available on some accounts. It's simply not possible on a per account based system.

I believe that those three features will be highly desirable on their own and should be offered for a flat rate as a per account pricing system simply does not scale with those features. Outlook/Mapi functionality scales on an account basis because each account you pay for gets the added benefit of outlook connectivity. However once you purchase one account, or whatever minimum you set , there is unlimited use of delegated administration, support, and knowledge base.

To be honest, I really think you should just include delegated admin in with the OSS/ZPL

I really love this system but you're current pricing scheme makes it hard on the little guys who don't need all the advanced connectivity but do need some of the advanced management. If you make the features a la carte, I'm in!

Thanks for the comments. Your best bet to talk about pricing and options would be to send mail to: sales _at_ zimbra.com
