Default Setting up Exchange e-mail w/ K-9 on Samsung Galaxy S

Device: Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate (Telus)
OS: Froyo 2.2
K-9: v3.601
Mail server: Zimbra exchange

I'm unable to set up K-9 on my device to access my Zimbra exchange
account. I get a "Cannot connect to server (IOException) error when I
try to set it up.

I was able to successfully set up K-9 to access my personal account
via IMAP (not Zimbra).

Help? Thanks in advance.

There's no such thing as a 'Zimbra Exchange account'.

K9 is an IMAP client, you use the IMAP details for connecting to a Zimbra server.

Default Zimbra and Exchange protocol.

Well then I'm confused.

The default Email Client in Android can synchronize email, contacts and calendars with Zimbra via the Exchange protocol. That's how I set it up on my device, and it works.

K9 has a section here: K9MailAndExchange - k9mail - Advice on how to configure K-9 Mail to work with Exchange - Project Hosting on Google Code all about using Exchange.

So am I just using the wrong terminology here, or are you saying that K9 actually can't do pushmail and sync?

Yes, it can with the Activesync protocol (on the device itself).

I could be wrong but I don't think those instructions will work for Zimbra.

If you want a really good experience with Zimbra and push mail then have a look at NitroDesk Touchdown, it's not free but it has all the features you need and work a treat. The usual disclaimer, I have no association with that company other than as a (very) happy user of their product on my HTC Desire.
