Just an idea: Evernote + Dropbox = Zimbra 7

I've been using Evernote and Dropbox for a while now and come to think of it that both of these functions are built into Zimbra as well with added features. But why I'm still using Dropbox and Evernote?

Because Zimbra Briefcase does not have a separate client for easily mounting the Briefcase folder as a network drive. I can mount it easily in Nautilus but not in Windows Explorer. Then here comes Zimbra Desktop 7 where you can just drag and drop files to the Briefcase but still you cannot add it as drive Z: in your My Computer. Then if you tried the webdav route, its such a pain doing it in Windows 7 and I don't think that Zimbra Desktop supports webdav too. A separate client or plugin perhaps for Zimbra Briefcase that allows offline access then creates a network drive in your Windows, Mac or Ubuntu OS, then Dropbox has all to fear.

Because Zimbra Documents may prove superior when it comes to formatting text, adding tables, and other objects than Evernote but it lacks support for adding Voice clip, snapshot (maybe an OCR is too much), web clip and the most important things is a native mobile client that not only looks the same across platforms (iOS, Android, WP7, Symbian, etc) but allows you to take notes and sync it with your Zimbra Documents.

I just hope the Documents and Briefcase in Zimbra can function as much as close to Evernote and Dropbox, after all... it is a Collaboration Suite.

You can map your briefcase (using WebDAV) under Windows too, using NetDrive (or any other WebDAV client).

Yup, I was trying that yesterday but no luck. Our Zimbra server uses a self signed certificate. Anyway I only use Windows for gaming but my office computer runs on Ubuntu Linux.

I'd like to map it using Network Places in Windows Explorer so that I could enable offline folder with it. This way if I don't have an internet connection I could still access the contents of Briefcase.

Do you know where the Briefcase files where stored on a local installation of Zimbra Desktop 2.0? I can use that instead.
