If you mean use another server as a 'smart host' then the answer is yes.

No, I mean using an external mail server instead of the Zimbra mail server.

In our case, our mail server runs PMDF on Alpha OpenVMS so we are interested in using the Zimbra webmail client against our server, that is. I can't see how to configure it in the Admin Guide...

Then the answer is no, you can't do that. Zimbra is a complete mail server and collaboration suite, it's one package.

You'd still have to install the whole application, it's meant to be a collaboration suite not a piecemeal suite. I think that if you only want one function you'd be far better finding a simple solution for that function.
