outlook compatibility

i've installed zimbra outlook connector, but when i try to start outlook 2007 a pop-up say that "outlook connsctor is compatibile with ZCS network edition but not with Open source edition".
there isn't a way to read zimbra mail on outlook anyway?
sorry for the question, but i am a newbie af Zimbra.

That means exactly what it says, the Outlook Connector is meant to be connected to a Network Edition of Zimbra.

Why are you trying to use the Connector (and where did you get it?) with an Open Source edition of Zimbra? What exactly are you trying to do?

If you only want to read zimbra-mail on your outlook-client, you need no "outlook-connector".
Just connect your outlook with IMAP/POP-protocoll to zcs

i try to use outlook and thunderbird but i can only read mail but not send.
what have i to do?

You do the same as you did with Zimbra Desktop, specify the outbound mail server in your Outlook settings. These isn't a Zimbra questions, it's a question for your mail administrator and a web search: +"how to" +outlook +SMTP - Yahoo! Search Results
