Default outlook and multiple calendars

hello,

i am currently testing zimbra with respect to how well outlook, isync and the webinterface work together. one question that immediately popped up for me was the way multiple calendars are handled. both ical as well as the webinterface easily display multiple calendars in a single view with different colours for each calendar. in outlook on the other hand, this concept doesn't seem to exist. multiple calendars are displayed side by side if multiple calendars are enabled instead of different colours in a single view. however, events in a calendar can be put into categories with different colours.

i guess there is no possibility to make outlook behave like the webinterface and ical? on the other hand, if i make use of categories in outlook and merge all calendars into one, i won't be able to differentiate them from the colors in ical and the webinterface, right? is there any solution to this issue?

thanks!

The outlook calendar display is determined by Microsoft, not our plugin - I'm not sure how responsive they are to feature requests...

i wouldn't count on any feature request for outlook. however, i am wondering if the zimbra server / plugin really couldn't handle that. if the zimbra server knows that outlook is requesting the data, the server could merge all calendars into a single one and use outlooks categories to differentiate. on the way back to the zimbra server, the data would have to be disassembled again from those categories. does this make sense? its just an idea - the current situation kind of make cross-platform usage really difficult.

Like marc says, how outlook renders data is an MS feature. If you want the 'merge' capability in the connector please file an enhancement request.

Hello bnz,

Sounds like a good idea to me so I voted for it. You might want to vote for it too (or should that be two?
