Default Mac mail.app: don't work outside the company

At work we have a Zimbra server for mail.
Mail on my mac in the office works, but at home it won't work on my iMac(s)/MacBook(s)
All working on OSX 10.6.6

I can't ask my admin, because I'm the only mac user...

How to solve this?

thanks a lot

Marco

What do you mean by 'it won't work'?

Why not? That's what your Administrator is there to do, solve user problems.

Indeed. As a guess, though, your server is firewalled off on the ports you need. Viz.

ports 25, 465, and/or 487 to send mail.
port 143/993 to retrieve mail over IMAP

There are other ports for POP, but I don't recommend using it. IMAP is better if you're checking mail in multiple locations.

But if it's a firewall issue, you won't get anywhere without talking to your network admin.
