Default iOS devices and Zimbra powered comcast.net email

Maybe I am a novice, but Zimbra does not work with iOS devices. I have the iPad and cannot open my email because the double touch gesture is a zoom function, not an open function.

I was finally able to scroll within the email window by using the three finger gesture.

Reading reviews on the comcast app does not seem to help alleviate this problem.

Can someone help or help fix this?

Thanks

As far as i know about Ipad you have to use the standard Activesync push technology for email.

The Zimbra provider i'm with allows us to configre to our Zimbra service.

Are you using Full zimbra service or using standard POP or IMAP configureation?

I am a comcast subscriber. They use the Zimbra service for their comcast.net web based mail service. I am not sure what specifics they are using for the website. Whatever it is, they can only recommend downloading the comcast app (which is crap) or deal with it. I did get another comcast team member recommending using the 'lite' version of the web site. I will try that but I was wondering if I am missing the gesture requrired to open the email.

I am using the iPad to access the web based content using the safari browser or Atomic Web app browser. The atomic browser lets you identify the browser as firefox/safari/ie. I have the same issues with both browsers not letting me open email from the main window.

My girlfriend has gotten around this by using the viewing pane for the email, but that still does not allow you full compatibility.

If this is a duplicate, triplicate, etc....Sorry, I have not seen a post even though the forum says that I am duplicating posts.

Unfortunately we're not able to help you on these forums, you should contact Comcast directly and raise the issues with them: Comcast SmartZone README

I came to these forums because Comcast is ABSOLUTELY useless.

I was hoping Zimbra would actually realize the push to use the iPad for day to day uses and accomodate iPad users by updating their technology for a touch based OS.

This battle is nothing new in the world of windows based PC technology. My company's IT department is just as clueless. They can only used Windows based technology.

Phenomenal!!!

Configure the iPad to use Exchange ActiveSync to connect to the Zimbra server. Then, it will sync the Calendar, Tasks, Contacts, and E-mail into the standard apps on the iPad. Then just use the standard mail, calendar, addressbook apps on the iPad. Works extremely well (we use that here).

If Comcrap doesn't give you ActiveSync access to your comcast.net account, then complain to them, not Zimbra.

Alternatively, on the login screen, select the "mobile" or "html" option, instead of the "advanced (AJAX)" option. That will give you a single-click interface.

Thank you for your reply...

I searched for this topic and found this webpage

The iPad Exchange ActiveSync Guide – Stephen Foskett, Pack Rat

Just need some clarification....is zimbra a yahoo server or do I use the exchange server option?

I think I am going to have to enter in the server because it is not being recognized.

Switching to the lite version of the website in the preferences section of the mail program seems to have solved my problems.

Thank you very much for your help.

I am interested in the exchange server stuff and have asked comcrap for assistance.

cheers
