    Default saveMail_as: naming conventions

    Hello,

our users would appreciate, if "save_as" is pressed, the content of "subject" would be used as filename. (inserted automatically in the file-name - field).

In addition, the mail-header should be written as well to the file (if the mails is saved as *.txt).

Do you think such a feature-request could make it (soon)? Or should I open a RFE in Bugzilla?

Thank's a lot for your feedback!

    John

Doesn't the 'Save Draft' option do what you need, it's saved in the Drafts folder with the subject name. You seem to be asking for an export function. Under what circumstances would you need a 'save as' that the 'Save Draft'?

You're right Bill, exporting is a better term for our requirements. Unfortunately the 'Save Draft' option is not what we need, because we would like to be able to export(save) mails stored in whatever folder.

Of course most users would appreciate it very much, if such tasks could be done via drag/drop..

For the case, mails from different folders shout be exportet to the same target/folder it's obviously necessary - for unique identification purposes - to add(automatically) additional informations like the date and message-id to the filenames. (eg: 20060922__power-feature__message-id)

And since the subject of the messages can contain non-English characters, the script should decode RFC 2047-encoded subject lines into the local character set..

Would be really great if all users could accomplish such tasks in a simple way..

OK, I see what you're after. There isn't currently that facility in Zimbra and I don't see anything in bugzilla (after a quick look). You could file an RFE in bugzilla for this type of feature, just check bugzilla again and make sure I haven't missed it.

I presume by drag'n'drop you mean just drag an email to something like a zimlet? That sounds reasonable to me, mention that in the RFE.
    Regards
