Default Domain name rather than IP address

I can access my Zimbra account from the webbrowser using the IP address of the Zimbra server. But what I want is I should be able to type the DNS name of the Zimbra server and get access to my Zimbra account. How can I do that? My Zimbra is residing on a Redhat Linux machine. Do I need to some configuration in the linux machine?

My second question is, can I access my Zimbra account over internet?

Of course you can do this. Depending on your set-up you need to have a local DNS server and/or a public domain name registered and correct DNS records pointing to your server. You may also need to use split-DNS so have a look in the wiki for DNS set-up info and in the 'DNS in a nutshell' thread.

Open port 80 (or 443 if you're using https) on your router and/or firewall and if you're using a router forward the port(s) to your zimbra server. If you have a domain name then enter the correct details into your borwser (assuming you have a public DNS server pointing to your IP address with A & MX records) and away you go.
