Default Outgoing mail server / Sage Act! wZimbra

Im setting up Sage Act! with Zimbra. I have listed my outgoing mail server with Sage Act! as smpt.domainname I keep getting a message " could not connect to server "smpt.domainname" where domain name is my actual domain name

Im not sure if this is a Zimbra issue or a Sage Act! issue.

Any ideas?

Outgoing mail server needs to be the server name of your Zimbra server. If you have a DNS entry (A or CNAME record) for smtp.yourdomain, great, it should work. Otherwise, use the actual DNS-resolvable name of the server; it doesn't have to have "smtp" in the name unless that's a valid DNS name for the server.

Nitpick: It's SMTP, not SMPT.

Make sure your Sage Act machine can resolve the name of your Zimbra server.

Lastly, check that you haven't blocked the Sage Act machine from relaying through your Zimbra server for some reason, or have a firewall between them, etc...

Which Zimbra? Desktop or Collaboration Suite - they're totally different products.

Are you trying to use the Zimbra server as a relay? If you are, you'll need to authenticate against the Zimbra server. What, exactly, are you trying to do with Sage Act!?

Sorry, Im not sure what a relay is. Sage Act! is a CRM that is used in tandom with Outlook / Zimbra Collection Suite / Thunderbird to send marketing emails by groups and recieve return emails and use data from that marketing. (amongst other uses)

When I send/recieve an email in Sage, it uses Zimbra to send/recive it. (relay?) I can recieve emails in Sage from Zimbra, but it wont send any. The error message I get back is " could not connect to server "

Then you need to determine what's causing that problem, does Sage provide any logging info? See what it says about why it can't connect to the server.
