Agreed. This is a somewhat stale topic but the need still exists as far as I know. What I would like to do is essentially take the UI of Zimbra (the various tabs) and make them tabs within Liferay itself.
I have gotten as far as integrating Zimbra's LDAP server into Liferay with an automatic import/export to keep them fairly well in sync and using preauth to make the iframe portlet in liferay automatically sign on the user into zimbra. Furthermore, I made a calendar tab and used an iframe with the preauth to automatically bring up a shared calendar using the redirect method in preauth. This works fine and dandy however accessing a calendar in this fashion is view-only. Is there any way to specify a URL that would get me directly into the calendar tab of Zimbra with a specific shared calendar showing automatically? That way I can show the Global shared calendar with the full UI such that those users who have permissions to modify the calendar will be able to do so.
I would like specifically to do this with a shared calendar, a shared address book, and a shared task list.
Any hints or tips to do this? BTW I like the preauth feature a lot. I think with some better way to specify redirect URLs that gets a person to a very specific page as I request above, it would be a good way to integrate Zimbra into Liferay from the GUI part of it. This obviously does not address more low-level items like integrating the 2 platforms' document management systems (I am using Liferay's right now and not using Zimbra's), saving session state between tabs (right now if I click on a different tab in Liferay I lose my spot on Zimbra and when I click on the Zimbra tab again it essentially is logging me back in from scratch), and a unified user management system that combines ALL aspects of the LDAP user fields that vary between the 2 systems.
